Dr. Lonnie King has served as dean of Colleges of Veterinary Medicine at Michigan State University and Ohio State University and interim dean for the College of Food Agriculture and Environmental Sciences also at Ohio State. He was the first Director of the National Center for Zoonotic, Vector-borne and Enteric Diseases at the CDC and led the CDC’s Office for Strategy and Innovation. Dr. King was the Administrator for the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, USDA and was the country’s Chief Veterinary Officer for 5 years. He was elected to the National Academy of Medicine and is a member of the American College of Veterinary Preventive Medicine. He earned his DVM from Ohio State, MS from University of Minnesota, MPA from the America University, and completed the Senior Executive Leadership Program at Harvard. His expertise is in emerging zoonoses, One Health, global health, antimicrobial resistance, and leadership development.
