Krista Gens, PharmD, BCPS, BCIDP, DPLA earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from North Dakota State University and completed her pharmacy practice (PGY1) and infectious diseases (PGY2) residencies at Abbott Northwestern (ANW) in Minneapolis, MN. She also completed ASHP’s Pharmacy Leadership Academy (PLA) in 2015. As an infectious diseases clinical pharmacy coordinator, Krista helps maintain antimicrobial stewardship programs at ANW and remote antimicrobial stewardship programs at several Allina Health regional hospitals with results that include an overall 82% reduction in C diff at ANW. The ANW Antibiotic Stewardship Program is locally and nationally recognized, receiving an ASHP Best Practice Award in 2011 and receiving the highest ranking of Gold Status in the Minnesota Department of Health’s Antimicrobial Stewardship Honor Roll.  She is a strong advocate for One Health, and recently co-authored a review article regarding antimicrobials in US animal agriculture on behalf of the Society of Infectious Diseases Pharmacists. She is also actively involved in the Minnesota One Health Antibiotic Stewardship Collaborative, serving as chair of the Human Health Workgroup in 2019, and recently co-authoring a paper with multidisciplinary colleagues regarding the structure and successes of the state-wide stewardship collaborative.
