Dr. Kamada Lwere is a physician-scientist and Clinical Microbiologist with over 17 years of medical experience, currently serving as a Lecturer at Soroti University and Islamic University in Uganda. He teaches microbiology and public health and is actively engaged in research on infectious diseases and antimicrobial resistance, with a focus on strengthening microbiological diagnostics and surveillance in low-resource settings.
Dr. Lwere’s work bridges clinical care, laboratory science, and public health. His research involves leading studies on bacterial infections, sepsis, and hospital-acquired infections, and he has been involved in capacity-building initiatives for infection prevention and control (IPC). His research also explores the intersection of microbial resistance and host factors in vulnerable populations, including older adults with neurodegenerative diseases.
