Dr. Peter Bergholz

Peter Bergholz, Ph.D. is a Senior Principal Scientist in the Therapeutics for Livestock Health group in Global Therapeutics at Zoetis, where he serves as a subject matter expert on Microbial Safety, responsible for safety assessments on AMR emergence worldwide. Peter leads the Anti-Infectives Microbiology team, responsible for the exploration, research, and development of anti-infectives for livestock and companion animal products. Prior to joining Zoetis, he received his Ph.D. in Microbiology and Molecular Genetics working at the Center for Microbial Ecology at Michigan State University followed by postdoctoral training in Crop & Soil Sciences and Food Science & Technology at Cornell University. He served as research faculty in the Department of Microbiological Sciences at North Dakota State University. He is the author of 24 articles in diverse areas of microbial ecology, evolution, and genomics with about 20 years of experience working on foodborne pathogens and key commensals.
