The National Institute of Antimicrobial Resistance Research and Education (NIAMRRE) announces that registration is now open for the NIAMRRE Annual Conference, to be held virtually April 20-21, 2021.

“NIAMRRE’s inaugural annual conference is our first opportunity to bring together all of our current and potential member institutions,” said NIAMRRE Executive Director, Paul Plummer. “Building meaningful, action-oriented relationships to foster a shared One Health vision for addressing AMR challenges is both the underpinning of our daily work and the focal point for this event.”

The conference will be held in four, two-hour blocks over the course of two days, with a virtual poster session over the lunch break each day. A student poster contest will award cash prizes to the top three posters. Participants will enjoy a variety of traditional presentations, interactive talks, and facilitated discussions over the course of the conference.

Plummer will kick off the event on Tuesday, April 20 with a welcome address before transitioning into a session focusing on Advocacy, featuring agency programmatic updates from the United States Department of Agriculture, National Institutes of Health, and the Environmental Protection Agency, as well as a presentation and facilitated discussion on engaging in the federal appropriations process. The afternoon session’s theme is Collaboration, with panels presenting case studies of successful public/private partnerships as well as industry/academia partnerships.

On Wednesday, April 21, the morning session will feature research lightning talks from NIAMRRE Scientists. Lightning talks will be pre-recorded with Q&A taken live during the session. The closing session will center on Education, focused around the AAVMC/APLU National Action Plan AMR Learning Objectives, with facilitated discussion aimed at spurring action to advance these objectives for broad application across the One Health framework. The conference will close with a call to action to continue this work throughout the year.

The NIAMRRE Annual Conference is open to both members and non-members. Member institutions may send unlimited representatives for no cost. Non-members will pay a small individual fee ($50) to attend. Organizations wishing to sponsor the conference or advertise in the conference program can choose from a variety of levels to suit their needs.
