The National Institute of Antimicrobial Resistance Research and Education (NIAMRRE), is pleased to announce Iowa Biotechnology Association (IowaBio), a nonprofit trade association that seeks to promote the success and growth of biotech-based business in Iowa, as a new member in the fight to stop AMR.
“The opportunities to discover innovative solutions to antimicrobial resistance through biotechnology are limitless. IowaBio’s commitment means that our members—and the more than 1,000 university-based researchers they represent—will be connected to Iowa’s bio-based economy organizations,” said Paul Plummer, executive director of NIAMRRE. “We need those working with pharmaceuticals and nutraceuticals, human gene research, industrial enzymes, and livestock genetics, to collaborate with us and find solutions to this global challenge.”
Founded in 1994, IowaBio is the state’s affiliate organization of the Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO). They represent more than 100 bio-related entities in the human health, animal health, agriculture, and industrial biotech sectors.
“IowaBio is thrilled to announce our membership with NIAMRRE,” said Jessica Hyland, executive director of IowaBio. “This new partnership will allow significant collaboration between both of our organizations’ diverse set of members who share the same commitment to creating a healthier society. We look forward to working with NIAMREE and its members to continue advancing the fight against antimicrobial resistance.”
IowaBio joins NIAMRRE's diverse membership roster that represents academic institutions, commodity groups, pharma and health organizations, retailers, nonprofits and member associations, and startup companies. Organizations committed to cross-sector engagement to stop the spread of AMR may apply for membership. Members are accepted year-round for organizations dedicated to advancing the One Health approach—a collaborative methodology to achieve optimal health outcomes between people, animals, plants, and their shared environment.
