The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine Forum on Microbial Threats will be hosting a public workshop, "Accelerating the Use of Pathogen Genomics and Metagenomics in Public Health" on July 22-23, 2024, with both in-person and online participation options. The agenda for the workshop includes topics such as the current state of pathogen genomics/meta genomics in US public health, data infrastructure, interoperability, classification, and stewardship, and identifying gaps in current applications, funding, and research, as well as several panel discussions on applications in early warning and preparedness, privacy, ownership, and democratization considerations in the US, and envisioning the future of pathogen genomics.
