Since 1928, WEF has worked to protect public health and the environment by advancing water quality education, training, and business opportunities for scientists, engineers, regulators, academics, utility managers, and plant operators. Awareness of antimicrobial resistance is relevant to WEF’s members, who are involved in the operation, design, and study of wastewater collection and treatment systems in which antibiotic resistance genes are often detected.
