The National Institute of Antimicrobial Resistance Research and Education (NIAMRRE) announces Distynct, an Iowa software as a service company, as the newest startup industry member.

As an Internet of Things (IoT) sensor technology company that improves biosecurity for swine producers, Distynct will help address antimicrobial resistance (AMR) challenges by enabling producers to gain actionable insights into their operations—without needing to enter the barn itself. Distynct joins NIAMRRE’s ten academic member institutions, two affiliates, and two additional startup industry members.

“Distynct’s focus on the animal sector fills a necessary role within One Health efforts to preserve the ability to prevent and treat infectious diseases for generations to come,” shares NIAMRRE’s Executive Director, Paul Plummer. “The health of humans, animals, and the environment are inseparable—welcoming Distynct to NIAMRRE is exciting and a chance for us to collaborate with an organization whose focus is on the ag-tech space.”

Membership is available to academic, industry, startup companies, and affiliate stakeholders interested in cross-sector engagement to address global AMR challenges. Applications are accepted year-round for organizations dedicated to advancing the One Health approach—a collaborative approach to achieve optimal health outcomes between people, animals, plants, and their shared environment.
