A Path Forward: Engaging Beyond the Annual Conference

Closing out the annual conference is NIAMRRE Executive Director Dr. Paul Plummer and 2020-2021 NIAMRRE Advisory Council Chair Dr. Rodney Moxley. They will reflect on the past two days and outline what’s next for NIAMRRE in the 2021-2022 membership year.

Dr. Plummer is Executive Director of NIAMRRE as well as a Professor and Anderson Chair in Veterinary Science in the Department of Veterinary Diagnostic and Production Animal Medicine at Iowa State University. He also serves as the current Director of the Midwest AMR Consortium. His academic role as both a board-certified food animal internal medicine and infectious disease specialist coupled with a PhD in veterinary microbiology, and his leadership of an active research laboratory, place him at the intersection of translational research focused on AMR. In addition he serves as a voting member of the Presidential Advisory Council for Combatting Antimicrobial Resistant Bacteria (PAC-CARB) and serves on the American Veterinary Medical Association Committee on Antimicrobials.

Dr. Moxley is a Charles Bessey (Distinguished) Professor in the School of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Dr. Moxley received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and PhD in Pathology from the University of Missouri-Columbia, and is an Honorary Member of the American College of Veterinary Microbiologists. His academic research career has mainly focused on Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli (STEC) and enterotoxigenic E. coli (ETEC). Dr. Moxley serves as the 2020-2021 chair for the NIAMRRE Advisory Council and will host the 2022 NIAMRRE Annual Conference in Nebraska next spring.
