Dr Hoet is the founder and director of the Veterinary Public Health program at The Ohio State University. He has published over 104 research articles, book chapters, and technical reports on infectious diseases and AMR. Since 2014, he has worked very closely with the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation in Agriculture (IICA) on designing and developing national monitoring systems for antimicrobial resistance for the agricultural chain. Countries that have used his methodology included Paraguay, Ecuador, Colombia, Brasil, Chile, Dominican Republic, Belize, Jamaica, Costa Rica, among others. Since 2019, Dr Hoet provides technical support to the United Nations – Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) as an international consultant on AMR, working as part of the advisory committee that developed the FAO Global Plan for AMR 2020-2025. He is currently an active member of the UN-FAO Progressive Management Pathway for AMR team, which manage the PMP-AMR methodology to help countries to design their national action plans.
