Dr. Ndegwa is an associate professor of Animal/One health at Virginia State University, Agricultural Research Station at the College of Agriculture. She received her BVM from University of Nairobi, Kenya and a Master of Science in Veterinary Clinical Sciences from the same institution. She obtained a PhD in Veterinary Biomedical Sciences from Auburn University, Alabama followed by a Postdoctoral position at University of Minnesota and an Assistant professor position at University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. Her current research at Virginia State University focuses on One health issues in food animals including antimicrobial resistance, infectious diseases, zoonotic diseases, alternatives to antibiotics, and strategies to improve gut health in farm animals. She teaches animal science concentration and biology majors as well as graduate and undergraduate research mentoring at Virginia State university.
