Dr. Halleran is originally from New Jersey.  She pursued her undergraduate degree in Animal Science and Microbiology at the University of Rhode Island.  From there, she obtained her DVM from Colorado State University (2014).  After veterinary school, she pursued a Ruminant Health Internship at North Carolina State University (2014-2015), followed by a Large Animal Internal Medicine residency program at Oklahoma State University, with an emphasis on Food Animal Medicine (2015-2018).  Following her residency, Dr. Halleran pursued a PhD in the concentration of Infectious Disease under Dr. Derek Foster at North Carolina State University (2018-2021).  Dr. Halleran currently is an assistant professor of ruminant medicine at North Carolina State University, conducting research in the area of antimicrobial resistance of enteric bacteria in food producing species, specifically looking at genotypic patterns of resistance and developing appropriate drug dosing regimens.  She is also a one of the food animal clinicians, seeing clinical case and teaching veterinary students. Her clinical and research interests include infectious disease, antimicrobial resistance, neonatology and camelid medicine.  Outside of work, Jennifer loves reading, knitting and her two cats Benjamin John and Theodore Edward.
