Dr. Oglesbee is professor of virology and veterinary neuropathology in the Department of Veterinary Biosciences, College of Veterinary Medicine, The Ohio State University. Scientific contributions have focused on host determinants of viral neurovirulence, and he was named a fellow by the American Association for the Advancement of Science in recognition of distinguished contributions to our understanding of virus-heat shock protein interactions related to infection, virulence and impact on innate and adaptive antiviral immunity.
Dr. Oglesbee is the Director of the Ohio State University Infectious Disease Institute, whose mission is to generate solutions to the impact of microbes on the health of humans, animals, plants and the environment. This is a multidisciplinary effort involving 13 colleges and over 200 faculty, with six programmatic areas engaged in research, education and outreach. Additional roles include service as the faculty director of the College of Veterinary Medicine signature program in Infectious Disease, faculty director of the College Summer Research Program for veterinary medical students at The Ohio State University, and principal investigator on an NIH training grant (T35) in support of that program.
